Swordfish and the otherwise slow 2006 season.

Postby NetEscape » Mon Apr 03, 2006 12:06 pm

2006 has been very difficult fishing compaired with 2005. Dolphin, Kingfish, Sails... All have been quite elusive for us. It has been a very tough and disappointing winter.

Swordfish now... that's a different matter. We are 2 for 2 on our overnight Swordfish outings. Drifting dead squid south of Jupiter at about 1400 feet has made up for the otherwise crappy start of 2006.

The first trip a couple months ago yielded a nice 165 pounder. It took a 2.5 hour fight on 30 pound a rig at 2 am to get the beast to the boat. Excitement lasted... to this day.

Last Saturday was our second trip this year. This trip we took home a small 50 incher and lost a 100+ pounder at the boat. Not as good as the first trip, but a success to all of us aboard the NetEscape and certainly better than chaising the elusive Dolphin or Sailfish...

Any other Swordfish tales?
