AOL Problem with "invalid session" or other errors

Postby Peerfisher » Sun Mar 16, 2003 11:33 pm

I can rarely post because invalid session keeps appearing..I dont know whats up with that
"If ya cant hold the rod GET OFF THE *beep* RAIL!"
The permit WILL SUFFER!!!

I see the world and it all looks blue
I kiss the world and it all tastes true
The blurry eyes make me appealing
In a normal fashion another 2 or 3
you will become very friendly
your liquidation is a siren song
you swim I follow Im feeling my head sink
so as to reach and touch what hurts me
still I try to reach and touch what hurts me

Keep strong

Peerfisher,

What is your Operating System and Version (e.g. windows 98)?

What Browser (and version) are you using (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5)?

And you are contected to the Internet via an AOL dialup account - correct?

I did some more research and this is definitely an AOL specific problem.

In a nutshell, the Forum uses sessions to keep track of visitors and keep them “attached” to their information while navigating throughout the site. To improve security while using sessions, the sessions are tied/linked/associated with you IP address.

Large ISPs (like MSN, Earthlink, AOL) use proxy farms to balance user load and therefore your IP may change several times while your online. As this happens, the Forum has several features that try and maintain the link/association between your session and your ever-changing IP.

But a problem arises when negotiating with AOL. AOL does not play by the same rules as all other ISPs, and therefore, it’s much more difficult to maintain this link/association between your session and your ever-changing IP. The problem becomes more acute during AOL’s peak hours when you are more likely to be switched between servers more frequently.

We are working on a solution. So, for the moment, this problem will remain open…

One option that is available for you is to switch ISPs

We have made a small adjustment that should alleviate this problem.

If anyone continues to have problems with “invalid sessions,” please let us know.
