Top Captains to Host Free Sailfish Seminars

Miami, Florida December 29, 2003 – To help kickoff the South Florida sailfish season, four of South Florida’s top captains join forces to offer a series of free sailfish seminars during January 2004. These captains are a “Who’s Who” in the sportfishing community.

On Tuesday, January 6th,at 8:00 P.M., Captain John Dudas kicks off the series at Tex Mex Café in South Dade. Capt. Dudas runs the charter boat “L&H” and the private boat, “Freedom.” Most recently he has won the Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament and broke the Florida record for sailfish releases in one day with 35 releases. River Marine Supply will have plenty of free gifts on hand including a kite rod, reel and kite.

Next on Thursday, January 8th, at 6:00 P.M. Captain Mark Houghtaling of “Magic Fingers” shares his insight with the audience at OC Raw Bar on US1 and 184th Street. Capt. Houghtaling is not only an accomplished captain, but also co-host of “Fishing South Florida Style,” a weekly radio show on Thunder Country 100.3FM which airs Thursday evenings from OC Raw Bar. After the seminar, stick around for the live radio show which begins at 7:00 P.M. Crook & Crook will provide the giveaways including a complete kite fishing setup.

The series move slightly north to the Miami Outboard Club when on Monday, January 12, at 7:00 P.M. the one and only Captain Bouncer Smith takes the stage and bestows upon us his wisdom. El Capitan Sport Center will give away shirts, hats and a sailfish rod & reel combo during the seminar so make sure to arrive early.

We wind up the trail on Wednesday January 14th, at 8:00 P.M. with Captain Dean Panos. Captain Panos has been lighting up the tournament trail lately with some top finishes. He charters all-year around on his custom 34-foot Sea Vee “Double D.” Come down to Complete Angler Fishing Supply where they’re hosting the seminar and providing plenty of goodies.

During all of these events, anyone can sign-up for the world-class billfish tournament, The Mayor’s Cup. There will be staff member present to answer questions, help complete entry forms and sign-up observers.
