Taking a trip to Islamorada. Wanted to know when is the best time of year to fish that area? What I would like is to fish either the backcountry or go out to a reef if not to far. When is the best time of year to come to avoide to crowds and also the wind and have good sucess on the water? Thanks

i am pretty good fishing in islamorada around april throughout summer is a good time to go fishing in the backwaters for snook and tarpon and redfish. fishing off a reef is relatively easy and many great fish are available like snapper and grouper. for snook and redfish and tarpon in the back waters use some mirrolures that are excellent and proven to catch. over the reefs for groupers use bucktails or cut mullet or live mullet (if available) and for snapper you can use DOA shrimps, small jigs, spoons, and cut bait. almost everythibg fish which is legal size is excellent table fare. hope this helped
