Postby the edsta » Sat Dec 04, 2004 9:54 pm

i fish out of south shore mass, i fish mainly striped bass. i had a 6' 3" shakeshpere medium action rod with a 15lb test. i had caught a 34" "strippha" and snapped my rod in half. Was wondering whats a good rod to get maybe from dicks sporting goods or wal-mart maybe. if u can help please get abck to me.

Shakespear is Mediocre. Penn slammer is in that lb test. It wont snap , and if it does send it to penn.

I have had a lot of satisfaction with Ugly Sticks for the popping, spinning and the long rods.

Two weeks ago I purchased a St. Croix lt-med 7 foot rod and a Pinnacle low profile baitcaster. This set up feels great. Light and balanced in the hand 140 yards of 14 lbs test. I have used spinning reels all my life so this set up is new to me. So far I have caught Perch and Small Mouth Bass all under 8 inches. I must work on my casting. There is a resevoir system in my area. Saturday mornings I go there just to practice. At 7 am it's just me and the old guys. They offer lots of advice.
I have no idea of what I'm doing but I sure am having fun........FISH ON.
