Is Florida fishing better?

Postby robalo » Thu Nov 24, 2005 5:38 am

It has been 3 decades since I left my home state of Florida,so I ask you to tell me in your opinion if fishing and water quality have gotten better.By 1973, people on the piers were not bagging even half of what they did in the early sixties.A Snook over 20 pounds was hard to come by,and more often than not it seemed they tasted like gasoline.

Although I was not born back then; at least not in this body. I am unable to compare. However; I do know this. Multiple possible world record snook have been caught lately. The Sword Fishing fishery has recovered since the longlineres whiped them out. The mackeral have recovered since the netban. No one is really complaining. Go fish!

Remember to vote. You don`t even have to leave the house. And the Pompano? How about the Florida Jewfish? The Manatee? :D To hear about the Snook.

I think you gave insufficient options. Water better than what? What years? Fishing better or worse then what years. That is why i dont vote. However; The jewfish are a nuisance now. Snooks are back, Swordfish , macks are all back, its getting better. lets keep the conservation going :!:
