Swording :: 01-18-07

Postby RudyGomez » Fri Jan 19, 2007 12:13 pm

Got a call from Danny (GhostRider) in the morning and he said, "Let's go Swording". The fish were snapping and the weather looked great - it didn't take much convincing. We hooked up with Sonny (?) and were on the water by 4:00 pm.

At 7:20 pm, we noticed one of the balloons in the spread making a slow retreat. Started reeling like mad and came tight on what seemed like a small pup. Had the fish next to boat within 5 min. where it did a 180 and finally started pulling some drag. 15 minutes later Sonny sunk the gaff.

Over the past 2 years I've done half a dozen swordfish trips on my boat. I REALLY enjoyed watching some of my good friends catch fish, but tonight it was my turn - my first sword. The fish measured 56" x 36" and weighed 90 lbs.

Sonny caught and released a small pup later in the evening. Final tally was 2 of 4.

Thank you Danny and Sonny for all your help. It's always a great time fishing with you guys.
