FORT LAUDERDALE SPORTFISHING FOR MAHI & MORE!
Calm seas, light winds and hot temperatures are the expected in our Summer patterns off South Florida. With Sportfishing, you should expect the unexpected and that’s been the difference as to why we have been coming back with happy clients and our competitors have not.
As the sun rises and we push off our docks, we are greeted with a blank canvas everyday. It’s what makes this so exciting and why we love what we do. It is up to our Fort Lauderdale Sportfishing captains and crew to paint the picture that Mother Nature has laid out and put our clients on action!
No day is the same!
By fishing three trips daily, we have a huge advantage over the rest of the fleet as we jot down patterns in our journals and coordinates in our GPS. We also communicate within our fleet of four boats to give our customers the utmost chances at “Catching” in their limited time with us.
Some days, it’s Mahi on the edge and other days, its snapper and grouper over the wrecks. It can also be wahoo up top or big sharks down below.
On our recent trips we have been coming back with full coolers and memorable fish stories. Nothing makes us happier than seeing our customers catch trophy fish.
Check out this big wahoo caught by our Junior Angler with Dylan.
Excellent job on a true trophy! The strike was incredible and the way he fought this fish was magnificent to watch. We love fishing with kids of all ages and experience levels!
Wahoo are built for speed and are known for their incredible meat quality. Whether you want sushi or grilled steaks it’s all delicous! We target them trolling bonita strips around eight knots or using live bait off the kites. No matter how you dice it, wahoo are a crowd favorite.
As we push a bit further offshore into the cobalt blue waters, Mahi have been the story. They are considered by our customers to be the most beautiful fish we catch. No argument from me!
Mahi mahi fish
While the season has started off a bit slow, it is in full gear now and we are finding them almost daily. Our friends in the keys are reporting great numbers as well, which leads to great fishing here in a matter of days. Now is the time to book your Mahi trips!
Check out the colors on this big bull dolphin (Mahi) we caught while kite fishing. An incredible specimen and absolute battle on light to medium tackle.
Don’t forget about the kingfish and tuna on the reef. The fish have been snapping early mornings and into the evenings, especially when calm.
Trolling strips has been the most effective method to cover ground in order to find their location. Once we lock in on the bite ,we will troll that area successfully sometimes doubling and tripling up.
Check out this EPIC day by our clients that got into a slam of Mahi, Blackfin Tuna and Kingfish! What an incredible bite with a great crew!
Aboard the Lois Ann, we have been using our local knowledge to put our customers on the fish. Our detailed logs include moon phases, tides, winds, current and a bunch of secret sauce that help us to dial in a bite.

That’s the report for now. While these are trying times for everyone, we are extremely grateful our customers continue to choose us to get outdoors and catch fish.
I have personally created a strict routine that includes lots of bleach and alcohol to ensure our boats and gear are as clean as possible before and after each trip.
It is our priority to not only put you on a fun and safe trip, but to ensure we exceed COVID requirements of cleanliness.
