The last two weeks have seen a lot of dolphin coming to the docks. The Gulf Stream has been a little farther than normal requiring about a 20 mile run to find them but the dolphin are here and hungry. Last week felt like summertime with temperatures pushing 90 degrees and the 150 quart igloo full of dolphin at the dock.

May and June are always the best months to chase these fantastic game fish. From 5 to 50 pounds these beautiful and tasty game fish will test your tackle and keep the offshore action fast and furious all day long. This year should prove to be even better than last year as the fish have shown up earlier and there appears to be more bait offshore than last year.

At the reef, yellowtail snapper bite is still very good and the mangrove snapper spawn should begin shortly providing great action at the reef. Grouper have been consistent with some large ones taken on live baits in April. Blackfin tuna bite was off at the Islamorada Hump most of April but can turn around at any moment. The Gulf Stream has been cruising just beyond the hump most of the month and as soon as it moves back in, so will the tuna.

If you are considering a trip to the Florida Keys or Miami, this is the time of year to come. The seas are usually calm, the water is warm and the fishing is hot. Dauntless is just over an hour South from the Miami airport and on 15 minutes North if you are staying in Islamorada. Call or email today to book your trip. May and June will fill up quickly.
