That cold front at the end of March put a real damper on fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands and Marco area. We went from near eighty degree water temperatures to the mid sixties. Not to dispare. The wtaer temperature is climbing back. Live bait has returned to the islands. We have been catching very nice snook and redfish by working current fed points and shorelines. Large tarpon are coming back in. Most of the tarpon have been taking fresh cutbait. They are ranging from one hundred to one hundred and fifty pounds. There are plenty of other fish to provede action as well. Large jacks, mackerel etc. are welcome interlopers! Flyfishing was good this past week as well. The water in the backcountry is clear and quite a few snook are still filtering out of the backcountry. If the weather would just stablize, all hell will break loose. I'll see you on the water.
