8) I fished 16 miles out New Pass Monday with Dave Carr and friend, Chester. There were 5 foot seas out there—kind of tough conditions—but we caught and released grouper shorts, as well as keeper-sized triggerfish and a 4 foot lemon shark, using cut bait.

Fishing with Matt Bristol and family Tuesday at the 240 Ledge, we used Spanish sardines, shrimp and pinfish for bait. We caught mangrove snapper to 18 inches, keeper triggerfish, and a one keeper gag grouper. We released lots of grouper shorts. By early afternoon, with a 15 knot wind and gusty conditions, the group had had enough 4 and 5 foot seas, so we headed in.

Saturday, I fished with the Jerry Fries party, 13 miles southwest of New Pass, with live shrimp. We caught 16 keeper mangrove snapper, grunts, and released porgies and grouper shorts, and lost a couple of goliath grouper, in rough conditions, with gusty winds and 3-5 foot seas: With the same predicted for Sunday, we stayed in port.
