CLEARWATER/TAMPA/TARPON SPRINGS Capt. Rich Knox of Absolute Flats Fishing and Tarpon Charters reports real good action thru last week up to the back-to-back Alberta clippers this weekend. High winds and cold temperatures have lowered our water temperatures considerably. This plus dirty water has changed and moved the fish around. It will take a few days to turn it around with lows expected in the 50's and highs returning to the 70's and higher. Middle of this week we're booked and looking for the fishing to get real good again, mainly for the gator trout we have been seeing lately. Time to cover ground with artificials, sub-surface plugs by MirroLure, 1/4 oz. Jigs with a good shrimp imitation or a 5" silver fleck jerk shad, in and around deeper drop-offs and as the tide gets up, move onto the grass flats dotted with sand potholes, go to a small top water plug or a 7" jerk shad and work all of these slowly as the fish tend to be not so aggressive with the warmer water. The water temps will rise back into the 60's to mid & upper 60's as the week goes on. With the warming trend, all kinds of fish will put the feedbag back on, redfish first and snook will follow. We are now booking the Giant Tarpon run for May and June...Giant Silverkings from 100 lb to 200lb and multiple hookups a day. Tight lines, Capt. Rich Knox
