Vortex Charters Fishing Report

This years fall Kingfish run promises to be one of the best in memory. With daily reports of 30 pounders being caught, even though the main push is still North of our area.
This past week, we caught 3 in the 20-pound range, losing a couple of smokers that could have tipped the scales at 30+ pounds. Mixed in with the Kings is some large Spanish mackerel; which are as large as 6 pounds. The key to keeping the Spanish at bay is to use large Blue runners.
Gaga Grouper fishing is hot in depths as shallow as 20 feet; but the most consistent bite has been in the rocky ledges of 50-60 feet. We caught over 40 undersized fish on Friday, netting just 4 for the take home. Look for the larger Gags to become more prevalent as the waters cools.

Good Fishin’ to ya!

I will be moving down there in Nov/Dec

What is good to fish for in Dec.

It will be a whole new ballgame for me, as I am moving from the Seattle area

I am used to Salmon and Steelhead on light gear, so I like the fighting aspect.

Any input appreciated. I am a fishing freak, so it is one of my first priorities to get out on the water, in search of fishies.

Woodsy:
December is fantastic for Gag Grouper!
Just have to watch the weather as some years it is nice--others nasty!
Some of the bigest fish come within a mile of the beach--so bring some heavy gear--these guys will definately want to fight!

Thanks Fellas
I am looking very forward to Alot!! of things Florida has.....like sunshine for one!!
I know it's Hot and Humid, I have been a few times visiting, and my Dad is from Louisiana, so hopefully I can handle the heat.
I guees it will be a good time to acclimate myself.

I guess I will just sell my rods off except one...okay maybe 2 :D
I think my 1264 Allstar would do the trick, heck I don't know.

I got Alot to do and organize before I leave, but will try and get back online, before I leave.

I moderate a board in the NW, so like the bb's and glad I found this site.

Thanks again
I will check in on occasion before my departure.
