Inshore fishing for Seatrout continues to be as hot as a summer day!
The ‘gator’ winter trout that usually leave the area by this time of year have stuck around area grass flats. There are a number of fish that are fat with roe, and we are releasing these large females for logical reasons. Snook are also active on grass flats adjacent to the passes. We hooked and released 2 on successive trips last week.
The surprise catch this week was a 21-inch Gag Grouper caught and released on a 4-foot deep grass flat!

Sunday night, we worked the ‘hill tide’ at Egmont Key hoping for a Tarpon.
We joined the procession of 25 other boats drifting through the pass. Snatching up crabs as we drifted, we hoped to hook into the many rolling fish nearby. We watched 2 other boats hook up, but the Tarpon were not hungry. We settled for a 46-inch Cobia that ate a free-lined Pinfish.

Tight Lines!
