VORTEX Charters Fishing Report
Here it is the 9th of March and we are still dealing with cold fronts!
Between fronts when the wind lays down, the Gag Grouper have been very active in 40-60 feet. They are feeding on frozen sardines and small Pinfish.
Inshore, things remain the same: Trout on the flats and in the residential canals.
High-flying Ladyfish have been stealing the bait most of the time in the canals, so if you want keeper Trout, head for the flats!
A bonus this past week was a nice Permit caught by 11-year old Max Mazzoni of Oldsmar.
One trip last week yielded one lost monster Snook and 2 caught and released Redfish; but that came on one of the nastiest days of the year (last Thursday).
Look for Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish and Snook to become active soon.
Good Fishing!
