I am in the process of converting all of my tackle to Shimano. In years past I have used Shimano Stradic 4000s due to their smooth drags and dependability. As a guide, my equipment must stand up to salt everyday.

Before I buy new reels, I wanted to get some input from others on their experiences with other Shimano spinning reel models. How about Spheros, can anyone share info, positive or negative?

Used a Speros all last year-bought it instead of Stradic because (1) Less expensive (2) equiped with a special seal which prevents salt water intrusion into bearings and drag mechanism.

This reel is very smooth and casts extremely well on a quality, medium rod. Mine is on a 7' medium Shimino rod. A friend has one on a 7' Ugly Stick and it works extremely well also.

Stradic is not equipped with salt water exclusion seal.
