Florida - East or West?

Postby BIGEYE » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:54 pm

We are looking at taking in an offshore fishing trip (trolling), during our hols to Orlando (mid October). Particularly looking for tuna, spanish mackeral, wahoo, baracuda (shark would be a bonus), or any of the big game fish. Ideally looking for fish that will give us a good fight.
I have been looking at charters out of Tampa, Clearwater & Port Canaveral, and have a preference for Port Caneveral due to closeness to Orlando, and the boat charters are quite a bit cheaper than on the west coast.
Will Port Canaveral give us the best sport during this time of year.

I will have my two sons with me, both have no experience with offshore fishing, I have had some experience, but no expert, any boat recommendations would be appreciated.

TIA

Do you have a budget for this trip?

Prices seem to be averaging $700 to $750, this would be my budget.

The reason I was asking is that there are a few larger sportfishing boats in the area, but their rates are well over a thousand per day...
