I for one don’t think President Obama is about to ban recreational fishing, but I am concerned and will continue to monitor this issue carefully – specifically:

• President Obama's use of the Executive Order
• Any lumping together of recreational and commercial fishing interests
• Any move away from science-based resource management

In press release by the Recreational Fishing Alliance, their Executive Director, Jim Donofrio comments on one of my main fears (above), an “...attempt to implement through Executive Order what they had failed to accomplish through the legislative process.”

Im glad none of those bills have passed yet because its been a great summer of fishing in southwest florida. really interesting articles though!
