Bags of Salmon Fillets From Lake Ontario NY

Andrea & Dennis Buck of Bethlehem, PA have been coming up to Pulaski, NY to fish Lake Ontario for 19 years now. This is the first time they've stayed at my mom's lodge, Hidden Acres Lodge (315) 298-FISH (3474) and love it! They said they'd be back again for sure. They got blown off the lake on Saturday and went today, Sunday 8-19-07. They had a great time. They said that this was the best opening day for them in 19 years. Typically their first day is so so but this one was perfect with a slight breeze, very little chop on the water, and it wasn't too hot. They caught 8 King Salmon and lost 1. They kept 6 for themselves and gave 2 to their captain who took them out of Mike's Marina which is at the Little Salmon River. Andrea said that Dennis took the first rod release and then it was her turn. She said that her fish was back 300' and when it got done running it was 475'. It put up a fight for her and while she was fighting hers, another rod went off and Dennis took that one too. His only took 5 or so minutes to land and the captain turned around and said, "Andrea, I forgot you were still fighting yours!" Poor Andrea got forgotten about. She finally managed to land her King and they all laughed about it. The biggest King was in the 22 lb. range. Most of their Kings were 2 yr. old fish. Andrea said that there was nothing in the morning and the biting didn't start until 8:05 AM. Then it was fish, fish, fish. While they were fishing in 400+ feet of water, they were about 110 feet down. The Kings were hitting in 66 degree temperature which is unusual since the optimal temperature is 52 degrees. Hmm? Oh well, they don't care, they caught fish! So, thanks for the picture opportunity Andrea & Dennis and we'll see you again the same time next year at Hidden Acres Lodge (315) 298-FISH (3474)

END NOTE: A party of 4 guys who also stayed the weekend at my mom's lodge, said that they had a great time on Sunday as well. Saturday they couldn't get out due to winds....just like Andrea & Dennis. Waiting paid off and they said their biggest King was about 28 pounds. They all caught fish and were headed back to PA outside of Philly. Thanks for the bonfire guys! My daughter and I enjoyed it!

(yeah, you can have a bonfire at Hidden Acres Lodge........it's a great place, I'm telln' ya!)
