-- Night Fishing Alabama's Coosa River Impoundment Mitchell Lake for Spotted Bass and Largemouth Bass --

Mid-summer is now showing the air temps in the mid-to-upper 90's during the daytime hours and many anglers have resorted to night fishing for Mitchell lake's bass.

With air temps in the low-70's at night, coupled with a cool evening breeze, a lake with less anglers on the water, and a little peace and solitude on about any spot you choose to fish...there is a big difference.

Much different. Than when daytime fishing under the hot, summer sun now nearing 100 degrees with each passing week.

Choosing an ideal spot to just settle in for the night and throughly fish hard, means not having to navigate your boat under the cover of darkness. Which means a lot less chance of hitting some unseen object!

The lakes headwaters, fishing below Lay lake dam, is a popular spot for nighttime anglers looking for big spotted bass, striped bass, largemouth bass and other fish as well.

The mid-to-lower lake has plenty of well lighted places to fish. Like around piers, boat houses, marinas and the Mitchell lake dam area, around man made rip-rap rocks.

Even less lighted places like up in major feeder creeks, small cuts and flats all have aquatic weeds, wood cover and rocks or rock bluffs to explore at night.

Fishing for bass on Mitchell lake after the sun goes down calls for the use of a number of lures, that can be fished from top to bottom.

Topwater lures like frogs can be fished right up in the thickest of weeds, buzzbaits or spinnerbaits fished in and around weeds and wood cover are good.

Or worms of all sizes , tube baits, jig combos and creature baits can be fished any where!
