Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake level 189.40 MSL
Temperature mid to low 60's
Clarity very muddy
Mostly windy with cold mornings, dress in layers
Bass have been extremely active with lots of action on the first drops. They are feeding in "shifts". You will be on them and when they slow, back off and fish a deeper crank. In an hour of so, they will move back on the shallows. The baby one minus in the chartreuse blue back has been hot. The soft plastics in the huckleberry colors are hot right now. The 7" spear worm has bee our soft bait of choice along with the Kinami Flash with the swim tail. The Big Bite Top Toad is bring a lot of action deep in the cover.
Cat Fish are starting to do very well, especially with the muddy water. The smell of the cut bait carries better.
Crappie are surprisingly hot in this muddy water. They are very shallow and eating minnows.
Bream are still a little ways out, as the water clears up in the next few weeks, they will begin to get more active. The shorelines under the brush will be very good as the May flies begin to hatch again. With the water up under the willows, they will be a sight when you watch them come out of the water to "pick" a fly from a branch. Don't forget, this draws a lot of bass action as they are feeding on the bream at the same time.
Remember the Lee KIng Benefit Buddy Tournament June 13 at Lake Point State Park. FLW Outdoors will be with us to handle all the weigh-in activities, What a blessing to have a class organization join our efforts to find a cure for these precious, terminal Niemann-Pick disease kids. God Bless & Good Fishn'
