Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water level, 188.90 msl
Temperature mid to upper 40's
Clarity - Extremely muddy
Bass fishing has been very tough to say the least. The cold, muddy water has them all over the place. Slow, slow presentation has been the trick to get any kind of a strike. Jigs, rigged with a Sinko worked around any structure , slow cranking a big lipped lure or a Shakey head presentation, all worked slow. Red bug and gold have been good soft plastics color choices.
Crappie are very deep and not producing as expected due to the muddy water. When the water temperature comes up another eight degrees or so,and the water clears up,we will see increased action. The fish taken now are very deep.
Pan fish are still a few weeks out.
Catfish are doing well, they love the muddy conditions. A good smelly bait is doing the trick, the odor carries in the muddy water and draws their attention.
Be sure and check the www.leekingbenefit.org site, we are getting close to filling the first flight of 30 teams for the June 11, 2011 event.
Dress warm and keep plenty of water on the boat for these cold trips. We have a few more weeks of this winter weather coming.
"till next time,
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
