Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Water Level 188.03 msl
Clarity, stained
Temperature mid 80's

Bass fishing continues to be slow. Working baits extremely slow is resulting in more strikes. The thread fin shad have provided a great food supply this year and the fish are full most of the time. The slower presentation is causing an aggravation bite more than a reaction strike. Use top water plugs or frogs early and late. Let the bait sit until all the ripples disparate and work slowly back to boat. Two or three twitches of the rod tip and let the ripples disparate. Keep this up all the way to the boat. Soft plastics need to be worked all the way to the boat as well. Same with lipless crank baits. You will get strikes as you begin to lift the bait vertical. Watch the lure, you will see more than one bass chasing the lure.

Pan fish are still around, Beetle spins are working well along the shore lines and brush piles.

Crappie are in deeper water in the sunken trees. Vertical jigging grubs and small tubes are producing some nice slabs.

Cat fish are always ready for a meal. Some great catches are coming from cut bait and worms.

The hat weather is keeping the traffic on the water confined to early and late, unless you are fishing a tournament. For those fishermen, you need to check out hawkadvocare.com and read about the Rehydrate product. It will replace the electrolytes lost during the hot days and leave you refreshed and alert to concentrate on your fishing skills.Come by S & K Outdoors or call 334 355 5057 for more info.

We are now selling bulk soft plastics at S & K Outdoors in Eufaula, Alabama. Cheaper by the pound is true in nails and soft bait alike.

Gator season opens in Alabama in two weeks. Be safe and watch for the stumps in the shallow water. We want a safe hunt this year.We are booking hunts at Hawks guide service if you need help locating a gator.

Check out www.leekingbenefit.org for ways to help us find a cure. First flight for 2012 is almost full.

Keep plenty of sun block and drinks onboard during this hot summer.

'Till next time,

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam Williams
