Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Capt. Sam Williams
April 17, 2013
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Level 189.18 msl
Clarity Clear to slight stain
Water temperature low to mid 60's

Bass Spring is here and the bass are driving the fishermen crazy. They are deep one day and shallow the next. Watch the birds and the shad, follow their lead and with the correct bait, you will catch them. They are trying to work the shallows more and more, try that early and then look for cover the cover on the first drops. They are still responding to slow presentations in the absence of bait fish. Heavy spinners and jigs can be worked slow. An oversized lipped crank can be rolled slowly and kept in the strike zone.

Crappie are moving in and will be ready for the minnows. Trolling minnow tipped jigs is working in the creeks near the top of creek ledges. Chartreuse and black and pearl are a good choice.

Blue gills are starting to work on the wigglers around the covered banks.

Catfish are staging to spawn and are really on fire. Two to 10 feet of water is the trick. Cut bait is really doing well.

Please visit www.leekingbenefit.org and get registered for the June 8, 2013 tournament. Consider pre fishing for the Lee King event on June 1 and fish the Bass'n for Bernardo Benefit Tournament. Bernardo Solorio is a 15 year old local boy with Leukemia. This event will help his family with travel and other expenses to Birmingham for treatments. The entry fee is $65.00 per boat, that includes big fish pot, we are allowing a third person in the boat for an additional $30.00. Five fish limit per boat regardless of number of fishermen. This will allow some of the kid's to fish with their parents for their buddy.Call 334 355 5057 for details or applications.

The days are warming up, so make sure and keep plenty of sunscreen and water with you when on the water. Enjoy God's gift to us, take your family with you, it is a great time to bond and fellowship.

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
