Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Capt. Sam Williams
August 14, 2013
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water level 189.69
Water temperature mid 80's
Water clarity Stained in river
muddy in creeks

The overcast days have lowered the water temperature and the river has dropped a little. The bait fish are still holding in the shallows where you find cover. The corps has had some spraying done in the past few weeks, some of the cover you have been fishing will be gone soon.

Bass The early morning top water bite is still active, spinner and buzz baits as well as frogs are getting bites. A top water hard bait is a good choice, work it slow, wait for the ripples to dissipate before you move it, the explosion on these baits will get your heart running at high speed. Jigs and Texas rigged trick worms are a great choice when the morning bite quits. Work the same water for a while. Locate deeper cover and structure and work it with heavy jigs, big spinner baits and cranks. Carolina rigs with big worms and Sinko's do well.

Bream Worms along the banks are getting some fish. Brush and blow downs are a good place to work.

Crappie Jigging tree piles and deeper cover are producing some nice slabs.

Catfish Jugging is fun, bottom fishing on creek drops will get a nice mess for the supper table. Worms and cut bait are the best choice now.

Please visit www.alabamachildrensclassic.org to keep up with progress being made for the 2014 tournament. We are contacting the boat companies to be included in their Bonus Bucks programs. Some are considering us, Skeeter has added us already. This will give our supporters another way to win during our tournament.

The days still get very hot when the sun breaks through, keep plenty of water and sun screen. Watch the clouds, the storms come up fast in the heat of the day and the lightning comes up quick. If you can hear thunder, you can be struck by lightning. Be safe and enjoy what God has provided for our enjoyment.

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
