Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Level 188.45 msl
Water Temperature mid 40's
Water Clarity Muddy to heavy stain
The heavy, continual rains are keeping the creeks very muddy. The water is continuing to flow, cleaning up the main river some. The level is down just over a foot from last report, exposing some good bank cover. The water is still cold, the fish are not in an active mood yet. Slow presentations are repeat presentations are causing a strike. The better fish are reacting to the constant aggravation. Two weekend's in a row it has taken a 20 pound sack to take first place. Pitching finesse baits and jig's into cover have been working. Some fish are beginning to hit deep cranks on deeper cover. The jigging spoon has been a steady successful pattern on stacked fish on deep cover.
Crappie are still not at a peak in the dirty water. Warming trends and cleaner water in the next few weeks will turn this around.
Catfish are slow in the cold water as well. A few are coming in on jugs in the mouths of some creeks where the water is starting to clean up.
We still need to dress in layers and be sure and keep water and sunscreen with you.
Be sure and visit www.alabamachildrensclassic.org and see the new sponsors coming on board to support our goals. Sign up for the news letter and get our regular reports. We have almost all the major boat companies involved with us with their bonus money programs.
Be safe on the water and enjoy God's wonderful creation.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
