Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Level 188.35 msl
Water Temperature mid to upper 50's
Water Clarity stained to muddy
The cold weather seems to be gone for this season, rainy weather will keep the river dirty but the warming water will get the fish more active.
Bass are beginning to move up near old pad fields and cover near shore lines. Buzz baits, chatter baits and any noisy lures are getting a bite. Rattle inserts in soft plastics are also working. The deeper fish are still hitting slow moving lures near structure and trash piles.
Crappie are transitioning slowly. Some nice ones are being taken on jigs trolled in 10 to 20 feet. As the water clears up and warms, they will move up to the ledge tops. The next week should prove to make for some great crappie fishing. If they get stubborn, tip your jig with minnows.
Bluegills are still slow, small ones are being caught by bank fishermen on worms near blow downs and bushes on the shore line.
Catfish are doing good in this dirty water, jug fishing if productive and will keep you busy. Cut bait is a good choice.
The mornings are cool so dress in layers and keep plenty of sunscreen with you. Enjoy the lake, this spring promises to be very exciting on Lake Eufaula.
