Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Level 187.48
Water temperature 70's
Water Clarity Stained to muddy
The lake level continues to drop and fluctuate from day to day. The pads are now open and holding good bait fish, so the fish are there.
Bass are slow to bite, you need to be patient and work an area out good with various baits before you leave them. The bait fish will usually start to get active when the sun gets up. You may find action deep in the cover, Throw a spinner or buzz bait back in the cover, if they have not hit it by the time you get to the outside, let it drop and work it slow to the boat. Deep cover bass are staging off the brush piles with all the tournament action on the structure. Locate the fish on your scanner and work that distance from the pile. A heavy jig with a swim bait trailer will do the trick. If they miss the jig, try a Carolina rigged crank bait in the size of the bait fish in the area. It must be worked very slow.
Pan Fish The shell crackers are in the flats on beds. Worms are the trick for them. Blur gills are near the bank cover and overhangs. Crickets work best.
Catfish are doing great on jugs baited with cut bait. Mornings are bringing some really big cat's, over 20 pounds.
The weather is really hot after the sun gets up. Be sure and keep plenty of sunscreen and water. Enjoy God's outdoors on the river with your family. The fishing is real good now and you can get a good mess of any species for a fantastic meal.
