Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama
Water Level 188.38
Water Temp low 60's
Water Clarity Stained
Bass are shallow around cover. Top water near cover early, jigs on outside of cover or Texas rigged soft plastics are also a good choice. Deeper fish are responding to Carolina rigged bigger plastics and deep cranks. Lipless crank baits outside the shore cover will work too.
Crappie are in tight cover and on creek ledges.
Shell crackers are on the beds and coming in good numbers.
Catfish and really doing good now. Jugs with cut bait or wigglers on tight lines.
Bass fishermen, check out the Swab a Hog program on line or pick up a kit at most bait stores in Eufaula. Auburn is doing a study on four pound and better bass. All you do is swab the tongue for 10 seconds and place the swab in the pouch. Instructions are simple and in the packet. They are documenting the DNA of the Florida strain in our river bass. Once this is complete, they will be able to release the Florida bass in the river and we will have a larger , faster growing species here.
Please check out www.alabamachildrensclassic.org and enter to fish our June tournament.
Be safe when on the water, wear your life jackets. We have had too many tragedy's in Alabama waters this spring.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
