Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Level 187..98
Water clarity Stained
Water temperature low 60's
The water is dropping some and confusing the fish trying to move shallow.
Bass are still holding deep staging to spawn. They are also being caught on cover, natural and man made. Deep crank baits and Carolina rigs are working here. Lizards are beginning to be effective.I have had reports of shallow crank baits near wood on the banks are getting good fish. Sinko's and chatter baits are working just off the shore cover in 2 to 6 feet of water.
Crappie are trying to move shallow, if the water level will become steady. Jig's cast on the grass line are getting some nice ones. The deep fish are still there in 10 to 16 feet. Minnows are the trick there.
Catfish are doing good on jug's baited with cut bait.
The sprig spawn promises to be very hot on Lake Eufaula. We need to support the Florida Bass study that Auburn University is conducting. The program they instituted on Lake Jordan is in it's fifth year and is very successful. The Florida strain has survived and are reproducing very well. We need this same program here on Eufaula. It will allow us o have bigger large mouth for our anglers to enjoy and draw the larger tournaments back to our town.
Remember to visit www.alabamachildrensclassic.org and register for our June 1 tournament. Flight one is now full.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
