Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Level 189.66 msl
Water Temp upper 80's
Water Clarity clear to slight stain
Lake level is holding steady. Early morning bite is good around pads and cover. Top water baits in these locations will work 'till the sun gets over the Georgia bank. Worn shaky heats with finesse baits or Texas rigs with Creature baits around outside of these areas before going to deeper locations. Locate deeper structure and use Carolina rigs and deep crank baits here. The slower your retrieve, the better. The afternoon bite is good around points when they are pulling water.
Crappie are also holding deep on tree piles. Minnow tipped jigs are still the trick here.
Catfish are always cooperating in the creeks on jugs baited with cut bait.
The extreme heat is dangerous on the open water, be sure and keep hydrated and use plenty of sunscreen. Late afternoon and evening trips are more comfortable as the humidity drops and the sun sets to cool things down. The fish are more active. Be sure and keep an eye out for floating vegetation, they look like islands floating down river, there could be logs embedded in them, do not run through them.
Enjoy what God has provided for us to enjoy on beautiful Lake Eufaula.
