Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama
Level not available today up 4+ feet from previous report
Temperature 50's
Clarity stained to clear
Bass - Doing well Jigs and bottom rigs are catching good fish around the shore lines. Top water early and late will produce some bites. Fishing deep around sunken structure is good with jigs or crank baits.
Crappie - Getting hotter, trolling the ledge tops with minnow tipped jigs is a good combo. Mid morning to mid day is a good time frame. If you want to add to the excitement, add a lipless crank bait to the mix. The hybrids and bass are feeding on the same shad as the Crappie.
Bream- Are really slow during the cold months.
Catfish - Good yea around for the relaxed fisherman. Bottom fishing is steady on the drops with cut bait or the usual catfish favor. Take a good book and relax between bites. If you want to read, you will usually have a hot bite to keep you busy.
The lake level is up over four feet and all the vegetation that had started to germinate in the warmer than normal winter will now make great cover for the craws and bait fish. Spring is going to be really hot on Lake Eufaula. The fish are healthy, sores are gone for the most part and the fish are growing. If you want to do your part to make them grow faster , eat a few of the 14 to 15.5 inch bass. They are too numerous and are all fighting for the same food source.
Dress in layers and take plenty of water for a days outing. Spark and Rehydrate are great to keep your energy up and focused on your fishing. Please visit www.leekingbenefit.org and register for the June 9, 2012 tournament. We are striving for 200 teams this year. Please pray about the weekend and join us to make a difference in the lives of these terminal children.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
