Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama
Water Level 188.28 MSL
Water Temp. mid to upper 40's average
Water Clarity, muddy to dingy
The long cold weather and constant rains have made fishing the river system tough at best.
Bass have been shallow most of the winter working the warmer shallows where the bait fish have been. Slow worked baits are doing best. The Fin-tech knuckle ball with finesse worms and lizards are catching bass from the banks to 12 feet deep. Some of the fishermen are reporting the Fin-tech Title shot, heavy models, rigged with the Kinami Flash are doing a good job in the deep water on ledges and structure.
The Stripes are on FIRE below the dam in the current. The three way swivel weighted with the 5 oz. tear drop lead and a 1/4 oz white or red Title shot jig dressed with a pearl fluke is the trick. We have seen pictures of some huge ones caught lately. The catfish below the dam are doing great also.
Crappie are beginning to do well, even in the muddy water. Fish the sides of the creeks on the drops with minnows while anchored or the trolling is starting to produce a few along the tops of the creek drops.
Catfish on jugs is always a great way to have a lot of fun and fill the dinner plate. The cold windy weather makes it uncomfortable and a challenge to keep up with the jugs, just fish a few less and it is a lot less work.
Remember the Lee King Benefit Tournament coming up June 12, with the safety meeting on Friday June 11. Details on www.leekingbenefit.org.
When in Eufaula, come by the new S & K Outdoors on N. Eufaula Avenue and check out the new line up of lures. Over 100,000 hard baits in inventory. This is also the new headquarters for the Lee King Foundation.
Dress warm as we have a few more weeks of this cold weather. The FLW will be in town the week of March 7 thru 13, be sure and attend the weigh ins on Wed, Thurs and Friday at Lake Point State park and Lawrence Chevrolet on Sat.
'till next time, God Bless & Good Fishn'
