Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula is nearly at full pool as of this report. The grass that has been growing on the flats for the past two years, during the drought, are covered now and promise to provide a very exciting spring bass fishery. Early and late spinner bait and top water fishing are going to be awsome. Cloudy days will hold the fishermen on the grass all day. The bass are still on the leadges as the water temp is still cold. Working bottom bait slow is the ticket for now.
Crappies are still coming in good numbers at night around the bridges. Minnows are the choice bait with jigs doing some good between bites on minnows.
Cat fish are always ready for a bite of good bait, some days are slower but the sites of nature are always great to pass the time.
The Alabama game biologist has approved the re-marking of 10 old fish attractor locations and three new ones. We will drop the "Owen Wall" structure on all thirteen sites and they will be marked on a map with GPS coordinates. We will attempt to make all the old locations renewed and add a few new ones each year as Federal funds and volunteer help become available.
That is about all the news for now, we are working on details for a fund raiser tournament in June with a guarantee pay back of $10,000.00 for $100.00 per buddy team. More details in the next report.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
