Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

We have experienced a cold front resulting in high Northerly winds. Dispite these adverse conditions, we continue to catch the Bass. The cooler temps have allowed us to catch shallow Bass all day. There are plenty of creeks holding fish to let you get out of the wind and be comfortable. I must admit, I had a party out last week, the morning the front came through, and I nearly froze to death before the sun came up. This is too early in the year to keep a sweat suit on board. The Bass were doing well in the shallows on 4" lizards and worms. We had some early action on top water. We worked the ledges , had some good hits but the 20 mph. winds ran us off. We were using 1oz. jigs and Carolina rigs with 6" lizards in the deeper water. Those fish are still there, it is necessary to "feel" the line to set up on them and the winds were hindering that very early.
Crappie and catfish still are doing well for the relaxed fisherman. Jigs and minnows are still good for crappie, worms and cut bait are always great for the catfish.
It was not easy to concentrate on the fishing last week, after the tradgedy that hit our Nation on Tuesday 9/11/01. It was a good change of pace to get away from the coverage and meditate and pray for the victims with out interruption. It bothers me that we were attacted by such a coward that they think they can remain faceless, it bothers me even more that we have our own neighbors,American's, being attacted here at home because they do not look the same as us. Remember, we look different to them and in God's eyes, they are the same as we are. Reach out to your neighbors, regardless of their origan and love them as God has taught us, do not become as cowardly as the ones behind last weeks attacks on our Nation.
Spend some time outdoors and take the time to reflect on all that is good in our world, it out weighs the bad.
'Till next time, Pray for our leaders and those suffering in this time of change.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
