Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

October 11, 2001 marked the completion date of the Alabama fish attractor project on the Alabama shore side of the Chattahotchee River (Lake Eufaula). We worked from the Corps of Engineers barge for 12 hours on Thursday and placed the owen wall structures in prime locations for attracting fish. The new map will be completed in the next few months and will be avaliable free from the Corps office. We are also going to try and have it on web sites for downloading. The new GPS coordinates will be on the map as well.
The bass are still in deeper water even as these fronts are starting to cool the water. Same patterns and baits are working from last month. The schooling fish are working longer in the mornings as the clouds hold. The larger bass are under the schools. Keep an eye out for the birds.
Crappie are still biting regular, won't be long before the mosquitos are gone and the night fishermen are out again.
Cats are always good on Lake Eufaula and make for great eating. It is the best way to relax and enjoy God's great outdoors while anchored out waiting on the "bite". Can't usually read a good book, not enough time between bites.
Fall is always a good time to fish Lake Eufaula, the tournaments are starting to make their big rush on our water way. Two major tournaments this weekend. If you plan a trip, make sure to book a room in advance.
Be sure and mark your date book and plan on supporting our Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament for The National Niemann Pick Disease Foundation, Inc. It will be June 8, 2002 at Lake Point Marina. $10,000.00 gueranteed payback (based on 100 boats) We had 96 boats in our first year and paid the full field. Help us do even better this year. Lee King does not get a cent of this money, it is all for research to try and save these youngsters. Check out the NNPDF.org web site for more info. If you send a donation, do it in Lee's name.
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
