Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The winter patterns have set in, finally. The summer grass beds have gone from the surface but they are still in the same place. Work your baits slower and slower 'till you provoke a strike. Jigs are good and can become a great bait if you add a big chunk or other trailer type additions to make the bait more visable. It can also be worked very slow. Rip-Rap and other shore-line structure will hold winter bass in the day light hours, especially if the sun if ip.
Crappie are at their best. Night fishermen are finding the weather trying but the creel is full. Daytime fishing is producing good catches on the normal holes. Minnows and jigs are the best bet.
Catfish are still biting, it is slower in this extreme cold but a little patience ant a tub of worms will get you a good mess for supper.
The winter cold is dangerous for the fisherman if you do not keep a life jacket close at hand. Always wear it when underway and it may keep you warmer in you leave it on while fishing. Hypothermia sets in quick when it gets down in the 30's and lower. Be safe and enjoy your time on the water in God's great outdoors.
Have a very Happy New Year. 'Till next report,
God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
