Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

March is here and if the weather will settle down, we will have an awsome month for bass fishing. In 2001 the Operation Bass Everstart series came to town, and in spite id trecherious weather and lightning storms, they broke all the Everstart records and came with in a few pounds of setting new Lake Eufaula records. Had all the fish been weighed in the record could have been re- written. They weighrd in nearly 6000 lbs. of bass in five days and never before did they have the twenty final fishermen all bring in their limits. The bass began to stage last week and a few nice bass were caught. Then the fronts came in and ran them back deep. The temp. in in the 30's as I wright this report in the afternoon with the wind chill even lower. The secret is to fish as slow as possible with large baits.
Crappie are in the same shape with the temp. causing them to be off the beds. They will begin around 52 degrees and be better when the water clears up. Night fishing is producing under the bridges with minnows.
Cats are always ready to cooperate if you can stand the cold.
Plans are progressing for the Lee King Benefit Tournament June 8, plan to join us at Lake Point for a fun weekend and be a part of making a difference in saving these kids lives. More info at www. NNPDF.org.
