Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Bass fishing is getting better now that the water temperature in staying hotter. The bass are located on the ledges soon after the sun is up. They are in 15 to 25 feet and are hitting Carolina rigs and Tennessee rigs. I caught some in the 5 to 6 lb. range on a lizard and went back over the same area with some new Kinami baits Derek Yamamato left me last week. The Flash was producing very well and the double tailed skirted grub is awsome on the jig as a trailer. Early morning is still good in the shallows. Look for the deep ledges where the grass shallows are near.
Crappie are still doing well at night, mosquitoes are becoming a problem now that the nights are warmer. The daytime crappie fishermen are still heading out around 9:00 A.M. to their favorite hot spots.
Bluegill are doing great on crickets in the shaded areas up in the creeks.
Catfish are always willing to cooperate for those ready to just relax and enjoy some time on the water.
The second annual Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament was a great success. We had 110 boats competing in the rain and at 9:00 A.M. we registered 144 kid's from 15 on down and they had a blast in the rain, fishing, casting and doing their thing with the Christian Clown Ministry form Atlanta. There were plenty of fun things to keep the crowd busy 'till weigh in as they watched Real Andrews from General Hospital and Derek Yamamato from Kinami Bait Company and the other fishermen bring in their catch to the scales. The top weight of 19.04 lbs. brought the top team a good check for $1500.00 The big fish, 5.22 lbs. won it's angler a $1000.00 pay day. All in all we paid out $10,100.00 to the top 16 teams. Next year the event will be on June 14,2003. Always on the second Saturday of June. Make plans to join us. Bring the family and spend the weekend in beautiful Eufaula, Alabama. All kid's events are free. Call 334 687 6266 for details. The weekend is to promote Jesus Christ and raise research funds for the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation
"till next time,
God Bless & Good Fishn'
