Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
October 21, 2002
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Updated: October 21, 2002. Hunting season has begun in Alabama and the lake is open territory for every one now. It's lonely out there with all the hunters off the water. The cold fronts are mixing up the bass right now but the water temp. is getting right and the bass are moving up in the shallows more. The warm afternoons are pushung them back on the ledge, suspended. The tennessee rig is still producing good fish. You can use it in the grass early and then work it on the ledge. Leader length will depend on the depth you find them suspended. The same length works in the grass any time. Jigs with big trailers are working as well. When you are pre-fishing the river during the week with the power generators pulling water, you locate your spots and go back out on Saturday to find no current, your fish don't bite and you are ready to find new fish. Before you leave, change your boat position and try again. If you were on a hump fishing from deep to shallow, reverse the set up,it works. Lots of tournaments coming up in the next few weeks. Stratos,Javelin will be here this weekend and in two weeks the WBFA will be here. These gals are serious and great fishermen. Crappie are starting to do great. Night fishermen are starting to show up under the bridges at night. Catfish are still as cooperative as ever and make a great meal. It's still a perfect way to take your kid's or neighbor kid and enjoy what God has given us. Great way to talk with the youngsters also. Come out to Lake Point and see the Pro's with their catch. It is always fun to see them in action. Remember October is Niemann-Pick awareness month. Check out their web site at www.nnpdf.org Come to Eufaula June 14, 2003 and fish in the Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament for the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation, Inc. $100.00 entry fee per team, $10,000.00 purse. 'Till next report, God Bless & Good Fishn' Capt. Sam Williams
