Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
August 19, 2003
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The rains on Lake Eufaula here in Alabama continue to come on a steady basis and the water is still up higher than normal. The floating trash is not as bad a problem as it has been but there are still some logs and trees to look out for. The bass continue to hold in the shallows where the bait fish are holding solid. When the sun does get up, the bass are only moving to the first drop. Derek Yamamoto has come up with another wonder bait at Kinami Bait Company. He gave out samples at the June LKBBT Tournament here in Eufaula. If you have not fished the Nories Bug yet, you are missing the fish. I was out the other morning and we were not getting any bites on spinner baits ,Lizards or worms. We went back out in the afternoon and put on the BUG and we wore out the fish. They did not like it on the bottom Texas rigged so I put it on a short Carolina rig put it in tight to the cover and they were hitting it as soon as it began to move. Derek has hit a home run again.

The pan fish are still in the blow downs and can be taken with worms and crickets.

Cats are still doing there same old thing. The stained water has them moving more and they are always good fried up fresh after a relaxing day on the water.

Stratos Boats and Mercury Motors have teamed up as "Partners for a Cure" for the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation. You can get a chance to win this beautiful 285Pro with a 150XR6 for only $100.00 per ticket. The drawing will be June 12, 2004 and tickets can be found at www.leekingbenefit.org Donations are tax deductable. Ge in on the fun and help us fund the research to keep these children alive.

"till next report,

God Bless & Good Fishn'

Capt. Sam
