Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
September 21, 2004
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Water level : 189.19

Color : Muddy

Temp : upper 80's

Bass fishing has been tough since the hurricanes have taken over our weather systems. After Francis, we were fishing up-river and could see the muddy water coming down stream but the water was clear back in the creeks. Since Ivan has passed, the river is pure red all the way to the back of the creeks. You can track deer on the water now. The bass are just a little tougher to locate. They are hitting red colored baits near the banks. We were catching bass early on the grass and after it got later, we turned around and fished down the ledge and began to catch again. We tried the Tennessee rig and Carolina rig and still did better with the Texas rig. The river should clear up in a week or so, they still are moving a lot of flood water down from up North. As the water drops, be sure and be aware of floating trash, the banks will give up a lot of trash as this happens.

Crappie and Blue gill are off with the muddy water.

Cat fish are cooperative as always. A good cup of crawlers and a little shade make for a great day and an even better supper.

Please check out www.leekingbenefit.org and see the opportunities you have to make a difference and support research of Niemann-Pick disease. This terminal illness is claiming out children. The fishermen and industry have done so much already, join us. The Stratos 285ProXL with the Mercury 150 XR6 will make someone a wonderful prize next June. For every $25.00 donation, you will have a chance to win in the big drawing.

"till next report,

God Bless & Good Fishn'

Capt. Sam Williams
