Capt. Reed Montgomery
May 4, 2015
Logan Martin Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

As lake levels return to normal, the Coosa River spotted bass have invaded the shallows. Water temps are near 70 degrees the first week of May. Air temps are in the low-to-mid 80's with sunny skies predicted for yet another week!

Logan Martin Lake Fishing Forecast:

This weeks sunny conditions continue until next Friday May 8 when rain is predicted. Lake levels are back to full pool, aquatic weeds are growing and Logan Martin Lake's Bass are still bedding or some now in a post-spawn mode.

Topwater lures, shallow crankbaits, lipless lures and spinnerbaits cover shallow water fast and get the more active bass bite!

With several bites in one spot, slow down re-work the area and use bottom bumping lures like worms, lizards, creature baits, jig combos, small finesse worms, Texas rigs and Carolina rigs and try swimming a jig combo!

Swim baits and A-rigs are good in 5-10 feet depths, of now some very flooded water! Try creek flats and secondary points, creek mouths and the mid-to-back ends of smaller cuts and pockets.

This weeks warming trend in the 80's will move lots of bass into the lake's flooded shallows for late spawners and some bass already in a post spawn mode!
