Redfish fishing

Capt. Don McPherson
December 10, 2008
Orange Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

This last cold front gave us a good redfish bite today. However, we trolled almost 2 hours with no bite or sign of fish. I then received word on the radio that a fellow fisherman had located the bull reds. We had just missed the redfish by a couple of miles. We turned around and ran down the beach. We saw birds diving before we arrived. It was on. There were big bull redfish on the surface.

We had rods bending and drags singing in less than a minute. We caught and released numerous fish. We caught some on topwater baits. I must tell you. This is awesome fishing on light spinning tackle. These big redfish ranged from from 18lbs to 25 lbs.
This action should continue throught the winter.
