Mid-Summer Report

Capt. Jim Lucas
August 17, 2008
Yes Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The King salmon season ended with a flourish of fish on the dock by July 15th. The new size limit of 48" effectively ended the season after the 15th of July.

Just about the same time, the pinks and chum salmon arrived in force and the fishing has been fantastic since then, with limits on the dock nearly everyday. There have also been a sprinkling of silvers in the runs which only adds to our customers delight.

We expect the silver run to start early this season, seems we are getting more on the dock everyday. The height of the run is in mid-September, so we are surprised to have so many this early in August.

Yes Bay Fishing Forecast:

The last days of August and September promise more of the same. There are plenty of really bright pinks and chum around. The silvers are already starting to arrive so we are all looking forward to a great silver season. Add in a few catch and release Kings and the year will finish out with a bang.

Target Species:

Salmon - Chum, Pinks and Silvers
