Greers Ferry - Freshwater Fishing Report

Subject: report greers ferry lake

The water level at greers ferry is at462.70 feet and rising it is 0.16 feet above normal pool of 462.54 feet and the temp is high 40's to low 50's.

The bass fishing is getting better and better every hour, a lot of small males had moved up out of deeper water as well as some females , now with the warm rain and the whole body of the lake warming , a lot more fish will be shallow and venerable to being caught by most people that do not like to fish out deep for them, concentrate is 12-25 feet of water and right up on the bank as well especiall if ya have some wind blowing in on it , use wiggle warts, spinner baits, swim baits foot ball heads, and finesse worms , look for warmer water for the best results, the bite will be off the charts for the next month as more and more fish move shallow to spawn.

Walleye fishing is on and off with a lot of fish getting done up the rivers and getting back down the lake , some stragglers will still be caught up their, try grubs.crank baits drop shot rigs and jerk baits, the bite will really pick up when the fish get setteled back in the main lake and the lake fish get set up trying to spawn in the main lake, a lot of numbers can be caught.

No-report on bream, the bite will expload in the next 3 to 4 weeks as the fish move shallow on the next moon.

Crappie fishing is on again and off again as well some fish are out in 40 feet and some are shallower in 10 feet suspended in 3 or 4 feet out off the bank floating around nothing and are hard to find, try using jigs and jigs tipped with minnows, for the best success , in the pole timber and around brush pile as well as out in the guts of pockets, the bite will be real good in the next few weeks shallow.

No-report on catfish, when the water temp reaches the mid 50's over much of the lake the bite will be good.

The hybrid and white bass are eating grubs, rinky dinks,in-line spinners, spoons, crank baits all over the lake from 15-50 feet , try and stay around the shad for the best bite a lot are up the main feeders and some will bite vertical and some will bite horizontal , as the most will bite best horizontal now as the are moving more shallow in the coming weeks the catching will be great in the rivers and creeks and some big hybrids can be caught shallow in the main lake as well.
