Greers Ferry - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lindsey's Resort (501-302-3139) said trout fishing has been excellent. Try wax worms, PowerBait, corn and night crawlers. Brown, black or green marabou jigs are working, along with Trout Magnets, crankbaits, Countdowns and Rogues. Also try fly-fishing during low water with sowbugs, zebra midges, and Extra Crispies.

Greers Ferry

As of Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake's elevation at 455.0 feet msl (normal conservation pool – 461 msl).

Tommy Cauley of Fish Finder Guide Service said the water temperature has fallen to about 82 degrees. Hybrid and white bass fishing is great; they have moved deeper as they always do before moving more shallow and schooling. Try spoons, in-line spinners, swim baits, etc. The fish are feeding a lot throughout the day; find the bait and the fish will be close by. One hundred-fish days are common now throughout t fall and into winter. Bass fishing has picked up shallow as the fish have become more active with the cooler water. Try jigs, spinner baits, chatter baits and small crankbaits shallow. In deeper water, use Texas-rigged worms and C-rigs. Bream are still eating good all over the lake on chunk-rock flats. Crappie are in a transition shallower; try jig-and-minnow combinations. Catfish are putting on a feed, as well, all over the lake on a variety of baits. Use any type you have caught fish on in the past; no secrets here. Walleye are on the move to shallower haunts; try crankbaits, leeches and night crawlers, dragged along in about 30 feet of water.
