White River - Freshwater Fishing Report

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For daily water conditions and lake levels, call the Bull Shoals Powerhouse at (870)431-5311.
Recent Water Releases
Early morning fisherman have been wading out and finding the deeper holes below shoals where the trout are feeding. But by lunch time the water is rising and fishing from a boat on 2 -3 generators is very common.
Trophy Browns and Chunky Rainbow
The morning fishing has consisted of little or no generation. With the low water conditions, fishermen have been catching trout bouncing worms off the bottom of the White River. The primary type of worms used are the live night crawlers or Berkley Gulp trout worms in pink. Lures that have been working consist of the Buoyant spoon in red and gold, the gold and red Little Cleo, and the #3 Blue Fox.
Higher water conditions have been typical from mid-morning to late evening. The fishermen have been drifting yellow or chartruesePowerbait eggs, pink Gulp trout worms, pink or olive PJ's Jigs, and and live redworms. Lures that catch the trout have been CD 7 Gold Rapalas, # 3 and # 4 Blue Fox, pearl shad Xcaliburs, and the blue back / orange belly Smithwick rogue.
Fly Fishermen
Glad to report that the hopper patterns along the river bank have been working very well...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please note that a trophy trout released can be replicated if you have the dimensions and pictures of the fish so that one day someone else can experience a great trophy trout as well.
It is rewarding to see the bait fisherman, fly fisherman, guides, operators and the public working together in the best interest of the White River and it's Trophy Trout fishing program. Just proves what a bit of teamwork will do.
Good luck with your fishing and take a buddy along to make memories of a lifetime.
