Fishing Report April 21, 2024 Ucluelet BC

Ucluelet - Saltwater Fishing Report

We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. And the fishing is pretty good as well and what makes it extra special is that we often catch good amounts of salmon just outside the harbour.

We don't often put the boat in the water this early as there are less fishable days but on the days we have been out the fishing has been very good.

It seems there are good numbers of Chinook (Kings), Halibut and Lingcod around. Yes it is early in the season but the few days we have been out have been very productive.

A couple weeks ago we were just mostly fishing lingcod and having instant and prolonged success. That has continued every trip.

On our last trip we got our fill of lingcod and then fished salmon for a few hours.

We had 4 double hook ups and it was pretty fast action for a while. We hit over 15 Chinook had a lot of fun. Perfect day for fishing.

Halibut are around too. We haven't fished for them but have seen a few coming in.

We are going to have the boat in the water for a bit as the weather looks perfect this next week so let us know if you would like to spend some time on water.

If you are looking to book this season we have a few days left in from May to Sept for the Gold Fishing package and if you want to book a 4 or 6 hour trips you can do that as well.

Here are a few pics from this past week! Where is the best place in the world to catch Chinook (King) salmon?

I wrote a post about the best place to catch salmon in BC and I really believe BC is the best place in the world for ocean Chinook (King) salmon fishing which is generally when you get the salmon before they have drastically changed color.
What makes Ucluelet extra special?

Besides being a premier hot spot for both Chinook (King) salmon, Coho (Silver) salmon and halibut, Ucluelet is unique for its calm water options.
During May, June and early July (last year all summer), the fishing in protected water can be the best fishing and even if not, is often very good.
You can check out the areas visit www.Ucluelet-Info.com or get one of our fishing packages available at https://www.salmoneye.net/site/fishing-packages.html if you are intere We have very little ocean view accommodation but still have some cabins available.

We just purchased a 31' NW Aluminum boat which can take up to 7 people so we have larger group capacity now.

Below, some pictures from the past couple weeks.

Tight lines,
Sam Vandervalk
