Ucluelet - Saltwater Fishing Report
The large Chinook fishing has just been off the charts amazing the past 10 days with many double hookups and crazy fast action. All very close to the harbour.
Many people think of fishing as this time where you can wait hours for 1 bite. While that can happen, Ucluelet is a spot where fish every 5-10 minute is more common.
This past 2 weeks we have had days were it was double hookups every few minutes if you could get both rods down.
And these aren't small fish so sometimes there is a bit of chaos as lines cross and the fish jump, scream out more line, and cause the happy person on the rod to have their heart beat a bit quicker.
Anchovies, White hutchies and small Silver Horde #3 spoons, Gibbs Wee G have been good in close to shore.
Coho have been at Beg, Great Bear, Allie Rock, Chrow Island in decent numbers though are moving around day to day so its just a matter of finding where they are.
Halibut fishing has slowed down in closer to shore and now will most likely be more abundant at Big Bank and other spots further off shore. We are still getting limits of halibut though it is taking longer with the run.
